Wooden Top Feeder WAX DIPPED- 10 Frame
I've always said that there is no perfect feeder. While that is still true, our wooden top feeder comes closer than most! Several outstanding features of this feeder include:
- Virtually zero drowning of bees
- Bees can access the full surface of the liquid, meaning they can process the feed faster
- Unlike many other feeder types, this feeder is self contained; no empty super or hive body required
- Easy to refill, with minimal bee disturbance
- No robbing
- High feed capacity: approx 2.5 gal (10 frame size)
- Quality pine construction - seams are caulked to prevent leakage
About wax dipping: our wax dipped beehive components will stand the test of time and are completely ready to use! The hive parts are boiled in hot wax. During that process, moisture is forced out of the wood and wax is forced in.
Wax dipped hive components are known to last for 20 years or more with zero maintenance, and NO NEED to reapply wax later. Wax dipped hives CANNOT be painted, but instead preserves the beautiful, natural wood appearance. The wood color will steadily darken over time from exposure to the sun, but it won't rot or deteriorate!
Our wax dipped hive components are NOT THE SAME as some of our competitors, particularly the cheap imported hives from Amazon, Temu, and other online sellers. Their so-called "wax dipping" process involves just a quick dip into a vat of warm liquid wax, which simply coats the wood, rather than impregnating the wood like our process does. Their process will require re-coating every couple of years, while ours will last for decades without maintenance.

I bought 2 of these in the spring and decided I needed one for my third hive
These feeders are very nice. They are exactly as advertised. Also, fast shipping and quick delivery.
These top feeders allow the bees to fill all the empty frames after the fall reversal in a few days with just one filling where the inside the hive frame feeder will have to be re-filled multiple times. I have also seen zero bees drowning when using these feeders. I am looking forward to using them outside the hive as community feeders once or twice in mid-winter as this technique has given me zero winter losses over the last 8 years. Good box, the silicon was done very sloppy
Its always a pleasure when dealing Hillco. I do love the feeders. I drilled a couple of holes in the side so I can drive by with the truck and put a gallon in each side in just a few minutes and move on down the line. I will have one for each hive.
