Swarm Trap WAX DIPPED
Why buy bees? Catch them for free with one of our high quality swarm traps!
This swarm trap holds 5 frames and plenty of excess empty space below the frames to accommodate large swarms with the extra space that scout bees look for. Made of durable 3/8" exterior grade plywood, swarm traps come fully assembled and just need paint. Features of this swarm trap box include a stout built-in hanger bracket and a really handy entrance disk that allows you to quickly close off the entrance for transport. In addition, we've added eye hooks on the ends of the box so you can easily fasten the lid securely with a bungee strap.
We also offer a really nice optional hanger strap to go with our swarm boxes. This strap allows you to hang the swarm box around a tree of up to 22" diameter, with no nails or damage to the tree. The strap works with our built-in swarm box hanger bracket, is rated for outdoor use, and can hold up to 200 pounds!
About wax dipping: our wax dipped beehive components will stand the test of time and are completely ready to use! The hive parts are boiled in hot wax. During that process, moisture is forced out of the wood and wax is forced in.
Wax dipped hive components are known to last for 20 years or more with zero maintenance, and NO NEED to reapply wax later. Wax dipped hives CANNOT be painted, but instead preserves the beautiful, natural wood appearance. The wood color will steadily darken over time from exposure to the sun, but it won't rot or deteriorate!
Our wax dipped hive components are NOT THE SAME as some of our competitors, particularly the cheap imported hives from Amazon, Temu, and other online sellers. Their so-called "wax dipping" process involves just a quick dip into a vat of warm liquid wax, which simply coats the wood, rather than impregnating the wood like our process does. Their process will require re-coating every couple of years, while ours will last for decades without maintenance.

I’m excited to try out the wax coated traps this upcoming spring and see how long they will last
Good quality swarm trap. Hope the bees like it.
For me, at this price point it doesn’t make sense to build it myself. It’s a good design and constructed well. If I could offer feedback for improvement, it would be the lid. It’s held down with a bungee cord that it doesn’t come with and it could do with some flashing on the top to prevent warping.
QUALITY PRODUCT FOR THE PRICE ! I have been very pleased. Have collected two swarms with traps purchased. Lid has a tendency to bow in damp weather. Plan to reinforce with a steel or wooden strip
We caught a swarm in it . Lightweight without bees . I made a small square cut out in the lid with jig saw so lid fits around the vertical hanging board better. Lid sits on it better now. A lot of unique items at Hillco like Brushy Mtn Bee supply had before they closed.
